JOB TITLE & ROLE Assistant Coordinator/Support Worker to the Primary
Health Care Project for Travellers (Part time - **Apply on the
website** hours, six month contract initially)
OVERALL PURPOSE The Assistant Coordinator will work with the PHC
Coordinator to facilitate and support the delivery of the Primary
Health Care Project for Travellers.
REPORTING TO: The PHC Coordinator. The post is joint appointment
between C.T.D.G. and the local office of the H.S.E. and is funded by
the Traveller Health Unit.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
* To work, under the guidance of the Coordinator, to develop and
co-ordinate the Primary Health Care Initiative.
* To help create links between Travellers and the local health care
providers particularly in Primary Care clinics.
* To liaise with relevant statutory, community and voluntary bodies
as appropriate.
* To support the coordinator with all admin requirements
* To be responsible for all reporting requirements and deadlines to
the THU
* To undertake the development of all health promotion materials for
CTDG PHC Project
* To support and implement further training programmes for the
Primary Health Care Initiative.
* To provide administrative support to the project?s Steering
Group and help prepare written progress reports and collate evaluation
documentation.
* To promote CTDG?s health programme and raise awareness of
Traveller health issues.
* To engage with the structures and procedures of CTDG to plan and
evaluate work.
* To help with the recording and publicising of the work of the
project.
* To undertake other reasonable duties which may be required
COMPETENCIES REQUIRED FOR THE POST
_THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:_
* At least three years? experience in a paid or voluntary capacity
of community development work
* Knowledge and understanding of Traveller health issues
* An understanding of community development approaches to health
issues
* Ability to develop services/resources for marginalized people
* Excellent IT skills
* Ability to communicate and work closely with others
* An ability to be a self-starter
* Ability to work as part of a team
REPORTING STRUCTURE:
The successful candidate will report to the Primary Health Care
Coordinator (who will be their line manager)
